School Counselor's work with parents and students in many ways through a variety services. Each service is aimed at helping children learn and develop to their highest potential. We provide classroom guidance, small group work, short-term individual counseling and consultation with parents and teachers.
As School Counselor's we visit classrooms on a regular basis throughout the year for lessons. Our classroom guidance lessons cover a variety of topics. A few topics we will be touching upon this year include bullying, handling conflicts, using decision making models, career awareness and study skills.
Small group sessions with selected children occur throughout the school year as well. These small groups include Changing Families Group (for children experiencing a change in their family due to the separation/divorce of their parents, deportation of a parent or incarceration of a parent), Handling Conflicts Group, Social Skills Group, and Study Skills group.
